So on sunday I went to Akihabara to see if I could buy a new one (My laptop is a Compaq, brand that is not supported in Japan). Most of the time when you ask for a "Universal AC adapter" (ie voltage and brand independant), they ask you which voltage you need... The most interesting was in one small shop (near the big Laox) in Akihabara: I had seen an interesting LAN-controlled external-drive and asked if it was Linux compatible (of course I was told it was not). Then I asked about "Universal AC adapter" (and showed my old AC adapter to be sure that he understood what I was looking for), I was stunned by the shopekeeper's answer: "Sorry, we do not have any AC adapter for linux [dame dess]"... PS: By the way if anybody knows how to get here in Japan a universal power supply (AC adapter) for laptop like http://www.kensington.com/html/5406.html or if anyone has a old Compaq one to sell, I would be very grateful.
